Tetra Tech is looking for a Junior Mechanical Technologist/Designer to join our Piping Design team in Vancouver, BC. You'll help solve complex challenges by preparing detailed models and drawings for a variety of engineering projects.
What You'll Do
- Prepare 3D models and produce 2D drawings from reference information, sketches, and vendor documentation.
- Prepare complete and accurate designs adhering to both client and internal standards.
- Check drawings and models for clashes and constructability.
- Review specifications, codes, and vendor documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized drawing files within existing structures.
- Schedule work to meet project scope, timeline, and budget.
- Keep the piping lead informed of project status and challenges.
- Coordinate with all disciplines as required.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledge.
- Conduct all work safely and report any health and safety concerns.
What We're Looking For
- A Diploma or Certificate in Drafting, Engineering Design/Technology, or a related field.
- Ability to understand and interpret P&ID's.
- Understanding of construction, operation, and maintenance requirements.
- Proficiency in using 3D modeling platforms, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Ability to effectively plan time on multiple concurrent projects.
- Adaptable to changing schedules and work situations.
- Client-service oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a quick, efficient learner.
Nice to Have
- 1-3 years of design experience is an asset, but new graduates are welcome.
- Experience with MicroStation is an asset.
- Experience with PDS, PDMS, AVEVA, CADWorx Plant & P&ID, SP3D, SmartPlant P&ID, AutoPlant, or Inventor.
- Familiarity with 3D Cloud points and as-built modeling tools like Autodesk Recap or CADWorx FieldPipe.
