Sonoco is looking for a Material Handler to join our team. In this role, you will perform manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. You'll be a key part of our operations, ensuring the flow of materials supports our business growth.
What You'll Do
- Count, weigh, or measure incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Examine incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with shippers to rectify.
- Complete paperwork or forms required for documentation.
- Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging, and stamping.
- Prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to perform work under direct supervision.
- Capacity to handle basic issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Possess working knowledge of subject matter.
