Unknown Company is hiring a Marine Fleet Training Manager

About the Role

Disney Cruise Line is looking for a Marine Fleet Training Manager to join our Marine & Technical Operations team. Under the oversight of the Director-Marine & Technical Operations, you will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving shipboard and shoreside training operations. This role is pivotal in supporting our safety and marine training strategies to ensure high standards of marine, safety, and environmental protection across our fleet.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for the on board STCW/SOLAS training programs and ensures compliance with the Flag State certified program.
  • Develops and supervises the ships’ MTO training program plans and provides guidance to ensure correct compliance.
  • Maintains level of competence for on board Marine and Technical trainers by providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Creates training strategies for shipboard and shoreside professional training at short and medium term.
  • Leads and coordinates monthly Training Officer conference calls, minutes, follow-ups, and closure of scope specific items.
  • Monitors all training related documents, technical safety bulletins, certificates and organizes ship visits for Flag State inspections renewal.
  • Ensures quality assurance visits for trainings on board of each ship and private islands are properly conducted.
  • Conducts vessel assessments, monitoring the correct applications and quality assurance of training Procedures.
  • Supports the development of new trainers and ensures officers capability to cover the on board first officer D.
  • Financially responsible for allocated budget covering training equipment, replacement, maintenance, service, and capital projects for new technologies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of up-to-date marine research and relevant projects, evaluating new technology and procedures.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and upgrading the Marine Learning System.
  • Responsible for the selection of training facilities and quality assurance for shore side professional trainings for the deck department.
  • Responsible for the implementation of initiatives and strategies to support safe work practices across the fleet.
  • Oversees training compliance of applicable Flag State, Port State, and IMO requirements.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of budgets for the department budgets for areas of responsibility.
  • Verifies compliance with SMS for areas of responsibility.
  • Provides shore-based assistance for Marine and Technical Operations to maintain safe ship operations.
  • Responsible for implementing Safety Management System policies and procedures relative to areas of responsibilities.
  • Responsible for the development of safety amendments to SMS policy and procedures.
  • Assists and keeps informed of ongoing and planned matters relevant to issues and materials in the SMS.
  • Serves as Safety Committee member.

What We're Looking For

  • Strategic planner with sound technical and people skills, analytical ability, sound judgment and operational focus.
  • Marine /Safety Training experience.
  • Great communication skills and leadership.
  • Must display great knowledge of regulations governing the Marine industry under IMO, such as ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL STCW, CLIA.
  • Extensive working knowledge and depth understanding of the industry, company and ships training systems and operation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a highly diverse environment.
  • Ability to take regulatory issues and requirements and condense them into simple, understandable, and executable guidance and operating procedures.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office.
  • Good Operational business knowledge related to training operations.
  • Ability to manage training operations from an operational and a professional standpoint.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day operations of the fleet training operations and short-term strategies.
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience such Chief Officer/Master Certificate of Compliance.

Nice to Have

  • Former Deck Officer and/or working in a Maritime Training facility.
  • Great knowledge of the ship’s operations and each deck department on board role.
  • Deep business knowledge related to training operations.
  • Manage the training operations from an operational and a professional standpoint.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
