Sedgwick is hiring a Marine Cargo Surveyor to join our Marine Division. In this role, you will inspect cargo damaged in transit to determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages, providing written reports and qualified opinions for underwriters. You will conduct independent evaluations across a diverse portfolio of marine cases.
What You'll Do
- Oversee loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages.
- Inspect damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
- Travel as required to conduct surveys.
- Review documentation to determine when cargo was damaged.
What We're Looking For
- Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
- Good customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
- Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion.
- Ability to handle work-related stress and multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to kneel, squat, or bend.
- Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions.
- Have the ability to: climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, and reaching/working overhead.
- Be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- Be able to drive up to 4 hours per day.
- Must have continual use of manual dexterity.
- Credit security clearance, confirmed via a background credit check.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Strong background in handling cargo claims, hull and machinery, yacht damage assessments, or investigating marine equipment failures.

Work Mode
