Ryder Transportation Solutions, LLC is hiring a Manager of Safety & Loss Prevention to provide leadership and operational direction for safety, health, security, and environmental services across our operations. You will be responsible for developing and managing compliance programs, conducting hazard analysis, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal requirements.
What You'll Do
- Provide leadership and operational direction for safety, health, security, and environmental services to Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Develop and manage service and environmental compliance teams and programs for the organization.
- Work with multiple directors, internal departments, external customer leadership, and third-party vendors for program development, compliance, service, and execution planning.
- Monitor compliance with regulatory agencies and internal Ryder safety and health requirements.
- Support operational personnel to ensure continuous improvement systems drive positive results in employee safety programs, compliance, worker's compensation, and injury/collision experience.
- Perform management support, analysis, and reporting to assure compliance with Ryder environmental policies enterprise-wide.
- Oversee multiple facilities and travel as involved.
- Support Torque by Ryder operations team on SHS and environmental issues.
- Develop compliance programs and employee safety management systems.
- Conduct hazard analysis, evaluation, and develop solutions for employee safety and regulatory compliance issues.
- Stay current with local, state, and federal environmental regulations impacting Ryder.
- Develop and implement environmental controls to reduce risk and improve compliance related to stationary emissions, waste, and hazmat management.
- Develop and implement environmental training tools for facility start-up and on-going requirements.
- Coordinate employee and management SHS training and development needs.
- Coordinate facility safety, security, and environmental occurrence root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Provide day-to-day compliance support to Torque by Ryder facilities, including routine audits and coordinating response to external audits.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or Management, or an additional four (4) years of required experience.
- Five (5) years or more in business with direct employee management.
- Five (5) years or more in management of employee safety and health issues or a working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulatory standards.
- Experienced with personal interactions with regulatory inspectors and decision makers (advanced level).
- Excellent PC Skills for reports & presentation preparation (advanced level).
- Experience with and working knowledge of developing and improving processes and protocols (intermediate level).
- Understanding of the IT environment, PC’s networking, internet, etc (intermediate level).
- Knowledge of Environmental Laws impacting the transportation and logistics industry (intermediate level).
- Knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state environmental laws/regulations (advanced level).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
- Ability to structure new or innovative practices, programs, products, or environments.
- Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills.
- Detailed oriented with excellent follow-up practices.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure, use critical thinking skills to reach objective conclusions, evaluate circumstances, consider alternatives, weigh pros and cons.
- Ability to build and manage effective teams, guide, engage and impart knowledge to others.
- Travel - 50% local and purposeful travel.
Team & Environment
You will work with multiple directors, Ryder Environmental, Ryder Engineering, Ryder Building Maintenance Services management, Ryder Safety, external customer leadership, and third-party service vendors/companies.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000
