HF Sinclair Corporation is seeking a Manager, Refinery Accounting to oversee and direct the local refinery accounting department in Artesia, NM. In this role, you will manage a team responsible for Accounts Receivable/Payable, Operations Accounting, Yield Reconciliation, Fixed Assets, Financial Reporting, and Inventory Movements, ensuring accurate and compliant financial operations.
What You'll Do
- Oversee and manage all refinery accounting functions, including inventories, project accounting, and general ledger accuracy.
- Develop and maintain Sarbanes Oxley compliance procedures and reporting work papers.
- Develop, analyze, and generate financial reports for plant management (e.g., actual vs. budget, capital expenditures).
- Review and analyze problems and variances within the department, developing and implementing solutions.
- Coordinate with auditors on refinery accounting matters and assist with the final consolidation and close in SAP.
- Define and guide refinery transaction processes to ensure consistency and proper accounting treatment.
- Supervise and complete special projects, and handle special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
- Oversee expense control, budgeting, analysis with variance explanations, cost control, and waste reduction.
- Formulate, research, and enhance refinery accounting policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 10 years of on-the-job experience.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Ability to lead and direct the work of other senior associates.
- Proficient with spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP), laws, pronouncements, and regulations pertaining to fiscal operations.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct complex accounting programs, set up accounting systems, and interpret laws and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal.
- Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations.
Nice to Have
- 5 years of industry experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
