Role Overview
This position leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs within a healthcare dining setting. As a remote-based role with frequent travel, the Manager of Learning and Development ensures consistent, high-quality training across all locations while supporting regulatory compliance and workforce growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, deliver, and assess training programs that support organizational goals and meet regulatory standards
- Conduct both in-person and virtual training sessions, including onboarding and professional development workshops
- Keep training content accurate, up to date, and uniformly applied across departments and sites
- Enhance instructional methods and materials to improve learning outcomes and engagement
- Partner with leadership and department managers to identify skill gaps and performance needs
- Manage the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignments, tracking, and reporting
- Maintain real-time records of certifications, compliance training, and employee development
- Coordinate logistics such as scheduling, materials, and communication for training events
- Measure training effectiveness using assessments, feedback, and performance data
- Drive continuous improvement in training strategies to boost workforce competency
- Ensure all training activities comply with safety, operational, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor training budgets, vendor contracts, and expenditures to maintain financial accountability
- Advise supervisors on effective training practices and employee development techniques
- Lead employee focus groups to gather insights and identify development opportunities
- Support HR and operations teams in onboarding, staffing alignment, and organizational development
- Oversee third-party training programs, certifications, and continuing education compliance
- Contribute to internal communications related to learning initiatives and company updates
Qualifications
Applicants must have 3–5 years of experience in training, learning & development, or instructional design. The role requires availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Candidates must reside in Central or Eastern Pennsylvania.
Preferred experience includes work in senior living, healthcare dining, hospitality, or foodservice operations, particularly in training frontline staff such as servers, cooks, and dietary aides. Familiarity with regulatory standards like HACCP, food safety, sanitation, and allergen awareness is highly valued. Experience with Paylocity LMS is a plus.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with remote flexibility and frequent travel across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. The position requires coordination with multiple departments and on-site presence for training delivery and program evaluation.
