Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP is hiring a Manager, Legal Talent Compliance and Operations to safeguard the firm's adherence to regulatory requirements and to advance departmental efficiency. In this critical role, you will ensure all attorneys comply with bar admissions, CLE tracking, and internal policies while spearheading initiatives to modernize and streamline Legal Talent workflows through automation and innovation.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain Firm policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal standards.
- Monitor new laws, regulations, and industry best practices to maintain current knowledge.
- Annually update the Legal Policy Handbook, including state and overseas supplements, collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Administer policies relevant to Legal Talent, including time diary policy, remote work requests, social media policy, and outside employment.
- Serve as liaison between Legal Talent and the Office of General Counsel on all policy related matters.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments in collaboration with the OGC to ensure the firm's compliance with applicable laws.
- Review and monitor attorney files, including work authorization, onboarding documents, and personnel records, for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to ensure attorneys remain in good standing with bar associations and comply with jurisdictional CLE requirements.
- Review requests for relocation or remote work regarding local bar requirements and monitor attorney remote arrangements for compliance.
- Respond to internal and external surveys and RFPs, and partner with OGC on the firm's annual audit of professional liability insurance.
- Analyze and document current Legal Talent processes for accuracy and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Identify opportunities to streamline Legal Talent workflow processes, recommend solutions, and help implement best practices.
- Serve as primary contact for the Workday Support Team for all matters related to the attorney population.
- Partner with the Senior Manager of Legal Talent Technology & Analytics to pilot, implement, and optimize AI and automation tools for Legal Talent workflows.
- Provide end-to-end support for Legal Talent projects, from planning and coordination to rollout and adoption.
- Streamline and oversee regular Legal Talent reporting to stakeholders including the Legal Talent Development Committee, Administrative Partners and Standing Committees.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree.
- 6-8 years of comparable experience in Legal Talent or Human Resources at a law firm strongly preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Superior judgment and the ability to deal discreetly with confidential information.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to engage across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative, detail-oriented, and results-driven approach with a passion for legal innovation.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (including Excel and Powerpoint) and other software including Workday and viDesktop.

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation range: $160,000 to $190,000.
