Responsibilities
- Oversee underwriting effectiveness and profitability for the branch.
- Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and established underwriting practices and procedures.
- Build and maintain relationships with agents, vendors, and internal teams such as Sales and Product Management.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback to department staff to encourage desired behaviors, identify and develop employees for expanded roles and career growth, and conduct coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Produce quality underwriting work that aligns with strategy, standards, guidelines, service goals, and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed about industry and competitor developments.
- Maintain and update underwriting procedures to comply with regulatory requirements, review automation rules for efficiency and process improvements, and ensure alignment with other states when applicable.
- Contribute to the creation and development of new property products, system enhancements, and forms, and oversee user testing and post-implementation analysis and review.
- Lead other projects that drive process improvement, increased efficiency, growth, and profitability.
