Genea is looking for a Manager, Healthcare Category Management to serve as a pivotal leader driving strategic sourcing and vendor governance for essential categories across our healthcare operations. In this role, you will lead a team to secure high-value goods and services, shape cost-saving strategies, manage vendor risk, and negotiate deals that directly support our business goals.
What You'll Do
- Manage staff responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies in one or more categories.
- Direct and train staff in conducting sourcing events, including development of project work plans, category profiles, and solicitation documents.
- Guide staff in the development and implementation of bid documents (RFP, RFI, RFQ) and manage status reporting and performance metrics.
- Understand, analyze, and forecast complex market and industry dynamics, sharing subject matter expertise.
- Partner with stakeholders to develop business and sourcing strategy using proven tools and analytics to drive results.
- Coordinate the evaluation of sourcing results from a total cost of ownership perspective and provide optimization recommendations.
- Participate in cross-functional teams for complex vendor negotiations requiring specialized expertise and nonstandard risk solutions.
- Review and lead supplier relationship management and performance within an assigned category.
- Proactively establish and foster successful working relationships with vendor personnel.
- Engage stakeholders to implement and execute vendor relationship management plans.
- Coordinate and host vendor business reviews.
- Develop, track, and manage yearly vendor plans and ensure vendor compliance.
- Coordinate vendor risk assessments and develop plans to track and address significant risks.
- Serve as an escalation point for resolving vendor performance issues.
- Manage the contract management function and facilitate collaboration with Compliance, Legal, Audit, and Risk Management.
- Coordinate research and analysis to provide data-driven recommendations for compliance or audit issue resolution.
- Oversee vendor implementation of corrective action plans.
- Develop new procedures, training, and recommendations for process or policy improvements.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required) with 8+ years of experience in a related field.
- In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in a related field.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing sourcing strategies across complex, multi-category healthcare environments.
- Expertise in contract negotiation and drafting, with a strong track record of securing favorable terms and mitigating risk.
- Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, influence senior stakeholders, and lead enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Experience in fostering a collaborative culture and providing coaching and mentorship.
- Track record of leading vendor selection processes and overseeing the evaluation and onboarding of strategic partners in healthcare.
- Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement value-based sourcing initiatives.
- Experience in developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement activities.
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs in a fast-paced healthcare payer environment.
- Strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks within sourcing and category management.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and change management skills, with a focus on driving strategic transformation.
- Committed to continuous improvement by staying current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
