Employment Hero is hiring a Data Platform Manager to lead our Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams across Australia, Canada, and Vietnam. You will own the strategy, design, and delivery of a scalable, resilient data platform that enables trusted analytics and AI capabilities for the entire business.
What You'll Do
- Build and lead a high-performing Data and Analytics Engineering function operating effectively across three time zones.
- Design and evolve a scalable, resilient data platform for trusted reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
- Set and execute a clear data platform strategy and roadmap aligned to business priorities.
- Enable AI-powered, self-service analytics so teams can answer questions without bottlenecks.
- Dramatically improve data reliability, performance, and trust.
- Reduce analytics backlog by improving tooling, data models, and ways of working.
- Act as a strategic partner to Product, Engineering, Finance, Marketing, and Operations.
- Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Create a culture of ownership, pragmatism, and delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering teams.
- Strong hands-on background with modern data stacks.
- Comfortable being hands-on while managing and mentoring senior engineers.
- Product mindset focused on outcomes, adoption, and impact.
- Strong bias for action and comfort operating with ambiguity.
- Excellent communicator in a distributed, cross-timezone environment.
- Able to challenge ideas constructively and make pragmatic decisions.
- Background working in fast-growing or product-led tech companies.
Nice to Have
- Experience building or evaluating Text to SQL or AI-powered analytics tools.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, OpenAI/Codex, GitHub Copilot).
- Experience scaling self-service analytics platforms.
