As an Engineering Manager for the Growth Data Platform in Bangalore, you’ll lead a high-impact team at the forefront of transitioning from conventional data engineering to intelligent, AI-driven systems. Your role is central to building scalable infrastructure that powers real-time marketing decisions and member engagement at scale.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement the 'Intelligence Layer'—a real-time decisioning engine that processes ML signals like churn risk and conversion propensity, routing them to downstream execution platforms.
- Partner closely with Data Science to productionalize key machine learning models, ensuring reliability, performance, and ongoing monitoring in live environments.
- Champion the adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows using tools like Cursor and Claude Code, evolving the team’s role from manual development to overseeing autonomous AI agents that build and validate data systems.
- Establish strong data observability through automated safeguards and contract testing, ensuring schema integrity, data freshness, and campaign reliability.
Requirements
- At least two years managing engineering teams in a hands-on leadership capacity.
- Three or more years of experience with data engineering technologies such as PySpark and Databricks.
- Strong command of SQL and production-grade data pipeline development, including orchestration and monitoring.
- Proven ability to foster collaboration between distributed teams, particularly across the San Francisco and Bangalore offices, with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ML Ops, model serving, Kafka, event-driven architectures, feature stores, and monitoring for model drift.
- Background in AI-forward engineering practices, including managing teams that audit and guide AI-generated code.
- Demonstrated ability to streamline complex systems into maintainable, scalable architectures.
- Familiarity with SLOs, incident response, and operational rigor in production environments.
- Hands-on experience with marketing platforms like Iterable or Braze, or customer data platforms such as Segment or Hightouch.
- Knowledge of contextual bandits or similar experimentation frameworks.
- Experience in healthcare or regulated, HIPAA-compliant settings.

Work Mode
This is a hybrid role based in Bengaluru. Team members are expected to be in the office at least three days per week. Due to collaboration needs with San Francisco, candidates must be available for late evening meetings, accounting for the 12.5-hour time difference.
