Allegro is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Recommendation team, building the core tools that power recommendations on our marketplace. In this role, you will spend 20-50% of your time on hands-on technical work, with the remainder dedicated to developing your team and collaborating with business stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Lead a development team of 5-7 members, ensuring accurate, scalable, and reliable delivery
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews, and fostering high code quality
- Design and implement key systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data science, data engineering, analytics, UX, and operations
- Ensure high quality through clean code, thorough code review, TDD, and CI/CD practices
What We're Looking For
- Experience leading a team using Java, Kotlin, and/or Scala as a Tech Lead or Team Leader
- Still actively coding and eager to maintain deep technical expertise
- Strong knowledge of engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, and scalable architecture
- Experience with high-traffic distributed systems and data engineering
- Ability to bridge technical and business perspectives effectively
- Proficiency in English at a B2+ level
Nice to Have
- Experience with Machine Learning
- Familiarity with GCP data engineering tools: BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Dataproc
