SCUSA Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Buyer to procure maintenance parts, equipment, and consumables for our new cheese conversion facility. You will ensure ERP integrity, manage inventory levels, and collaborate closely with maintenance teams to support operational uptime and budget objectives.
What You'll Do
- Purchase parts, components, equipment, and consumables for the maintenance department following established procurement controls.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair part inventories, ensuring stock is at or above minimum levels for plant reliability.
- Manage daily stock, inventory, and issuance of parts and supplies.
- Report any received damaged or missing parts to your Supervisor and coordinate with vendors for credit or replacement.
- Receipt all special-order parts, maintain a special-order file, and notify your Supervisor upon arrival.
- Maintain a backorder file.
- Support maximum profitability and alignment with the plant maintenance and repair budget through cost containment, competitive bidding, and price evaluation.
- Ensure vendors and suppliers meet expected price, delivery, and service standards.
- Coordinate extensively with maintenance management, technicians, suppliers, service providers, contractors, and engineers to schedule demand planning activities.
- Plan and prepare required parts, equipment, and consumables for both planned and unplanned maintenance work.
- Prepare and generate routine reports, including inventory balances, price lists, and shortage reports.
- Prepare lists of depleted items and recommend surveys of defective or salvageable items from obsolete equipment.
- Support the Accounts Payable and Finance department by ensuring detailed service and contract documentation is complete.
- Maintain professional relationships with all vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
- Participate in all required training sessions.
- Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics and actively apply Saputo Values.
- Work professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or certified equivalent.
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance demand planning.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Excel), email, and general office equipment.
- Technical capacity to learn and apply new applications.
- Highly organized, detailed, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and overtime as required.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment and components.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance processes.
- Proficiency in understanding systems such as safety, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and code compliance as they relate to procurement.
- Understanding of OSHA and GMP regulations.
- Strong ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Extensive planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), and requiring standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and maneuvering around equipment.
- Ability to physically lift up to 40 lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift.
- Ability to work with chemicals, wear personal protective equipment, and follow approved chemical handling procedures.

- Experience preferably in food manufacturing.
- SAP experience.

This role involves heavy partnership with the Maintenance Manager and technicians. You will report directly to a Supervisor.
