Silgan Containers Mfg Corp is hiring a Machinist to maintain and repair the mechanical components of our automated production lines. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of machine shop equipment and tooling, ensuring operational efficiency and supporting manufacturing processes.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate all machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, grinders, and power tools.
- Make repairs and perform maintenance on tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, models, instruments, and parts.
- Assist in size changeovers and perform overhauls.
- Set dies in machines for production runs, testing, experiments, demonstrations, and training.
- Troubleshoot all mechanical components of automated production lines.
- Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals.
- Report immediately to supervision about accidents, damage, emergencies, shortages, or equipment problems.
- Train and gain a working knowledge of mechanical systems.
What We're Looking For
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman-level machinist competency.
- Completion of a 4-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with close tolerances.
- Skilled in setting up and operating all standard machine shop equipment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, handbooks, specifications, and equipment manuals.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination.
Nice to Have
- Industrial manufacturing experience.
Work Mode
This position requires full-time, onsite work at our manufacturing facility.
