Reddit is hiring a Machine Learning Manager - Ads Marketplace Quality to lead a team shaping the economic principles of our ads platform. You will define the vision for ad quality and relevance, build and scale our auction systems, and help fund Reddit’s mission of bringing community and belonging to everyone in the world.
What You'll Do
- Set the vision and product strategy for ads quality and relevance.
- Optimize ads delivery and auction systems through utility function design.
- Measure various marketplace tradeoffs.
- Own the execution of your team’s roadmap and be accountable for consistent, predictable delivery.
- Ruthlessly prioritize both planned projects and emergent asks.
- Coach Tech Leads on project management and empower your team to execute autonomously.
- Identify risks and proactively communicate them both internally and externally.
- Scale up the Ads Marketplace Quality team by identifying needs, writing job descriptions, sourcing, interviewing, and helping close candidates.
- Help engineers identify career goals and create development plans to achieve them.
- Work with your team to develop processes and tooling that constantly improve product and system quality.
- Serve as a thought partner to product and upper management to ensure your team’s plans align with company goals.
- Become an expert in the digital ads business and our customer needs.
- Participate in and challenge prioritization decisions.
- Communicate your team’s work and set expectations with external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- Experience managing a team including hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teams in a fully-remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with data driven/informed decision making.
- Technical expertise in Ads auctions or closely related domains (e.g., online ads bidding and optimization).
Team & Environment
You will work closely with Product owners, Data Scientists, and other Engineering stakeholders from the Ads team.
