The University of British Columbia (UBC) is hiring a Machine Learning Lead Analyst for Evernorth. You will develop Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions using Large Language Models to impact millions of customers and members. What You'll Do
- Utilize Large Language Models (LLMs), Open Source, and Machine Learning frameworks to build transformative solutions.
- Act as a Generative AI subject matter expert, architecting and developing scalable, resilient, and ethical AI solutions.
- Build solutions aligned with responsible AI practices.
- Work with open-source models like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face Transformers, alongside cloud and partner solutions.
- Optimize existing generative AI models for improved performance, scalability, and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain AI pipelines for data preprocessing, feature extraction, model training, and evaluation.
What We're Looking For
- 5-8 years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Prompt Engineer with strong programming skills.
- A degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Extensive research experience with sequential modelling, generative AI, deep learning architectures, and Transformers.
- Strong understanding of techniques like GPT, VAE, and GANs.
- Programming experience in C/C++, Java, Python, DevIn, computer vision, self-supervised learning, transfer learning, and reinforcement learning.
- Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
- Experience with NLP techniques and tools like SpaCy, NLTK, or Hugging Face.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and services like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills for developing innovative AI solutions.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with recommendation engines, data pipelines, or distributed machine learning.
Nice to Have
- Full-stack development expertise to evaluate new LLMs for enterprise use in a compliant and secure manner.
- Experience working within the healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific IT systems and regulations, such as Electronic Health Record systems and HIPAA.
- Exposure to Gen AI and Cloud systems like AWS.
