Responsibilities

• Administer and control material receipts, issues, and storage.
• Determine the handling of material overages, shortages, or damaged receipts.
• Advise on applicable insurance claims.
• Supervise forecasting of future material usage at the job site and manage construction allowances.
• Coordinate with the chief engineer to prepare requisitions for locally produced materials.
• Prepare or verify arrangements for disposing of surplus materials.
• Ensure subordinates follow safety regulations.
• Verify that construction equipment and tools are in safe condition.
• Initiate reports for overages, shortages, damage, and rejects as needed.
• Monitor field change reports for missing, lost, damaged, or altered materials.
• Participate in material scheduling meetings and recommend schedule adjustments based on critical material availability.
• Prepare color coding for locally procured materials.
• Check inventory and develop storage plans for materials.
• Coordinate with procurement, field control, and field engineering departments to resolve material issues.
• Inspect material deliveries at the site.
• Control costs through personnel productivity, efficient storage space use, and proper material protection.
• Maintain detailed records of material receipts and issues, and review material receiving reports for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Manage and monitor subcontractors.
• Identify causes of material losses and implement corrective actions.
• Operate and utilize the FMC system.
