The Legal Operations Director will play a pivotal role at Juniper Square by building the legal operations function from the ground up. This strategic leader will design scalable processes and implement advanced technology solutions to support the legal team within a dynamic, technology-driven company focused on improving private markets through innovation.
What You'll Do
- Lead the vision and execution of Legal Operations to build a scalable, efficient, and high-performing team.
- Drive clarity, accountability, and operational alignment across the Legal function.
- Build workflows with AI at the center, automating what doesn’t require human attention and prioritizing what does.
- Serve as the primary administrator for legal technology platforms.
- Own and optimize the legal-tech stack, with deep accountability for Ironclad configuration, workflow design, reporting, and adoption.
- Design and manage legal intake and matter-management processes (ticketing/queues, triage, SLAs) to route work efficiently and increase self-service.
- Evaluate and implement additional technologies (workflow automation, AI-enabled tools, knowledge systems, e-signature, document management) that improve speed, visibility, and scale.
- Build and maintain legal knowledge repositories, playbooks, templates, and process documentation (e.g., Confluence) to enable self-serve contracting and reduce routine legal touchpoints.
- Define, track, and report on KPIs for cycle times, throughput, backlog, service levels, and operational risk.
- Use data and root-cause analysis to drive continuous improvement and process simplification.
- Lead change-management efforts for new systems, processes, and organizational shifts, including communication plans, training, and adoption tracking.
- Build the Legal Operations function from the ground up and scale the team over time as the company grows.
- Oversee vendor relationships for legal technology, ALSPs, and outside counsel, including selection, contracting, performance management, and cost optimization.
- Own or co-own e-billing and outside counsel spend management, partnering with Finance to track spend, enforce billing guidelines, and identify savings opportunities.
- Help manage the Legal department budget and forecasts; ensure disciplined financial operations across tools, vendors, and outside counsel.
- Oversee virtual data rooms and legal operations support for M&A, financings, and other strategic transactions.
- Adapt to evolving business needs and perform other duties as assigned.
