Environment Bank is looking for a Legal Counsel (Commercial) to contribute to our mission of restoring natural habitats across England. In this role, you will be instrumental in negotiating the sale of biodiversity units and other products from our nationwide portfolio of habitat banks.
What You'll Do
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts for the sale of biodiversity units.
- Partner with the Sales team to provide legal support throughout the sale process and allocation of biodiversity net gain units.
- Support the Sales team on responses to RFPs and RFIs from larger clients, and other onboarding requirements.
- Manage supplier and contractor onboarding and negotiate contracts.
- Report effectively to the Head of Legal, Governance and Compliance on contract terms and business risks.
- Review ad-hoc contracts and flex your skills to the business's requirements.
- Act as a point of escalation for issues arising on non-disclosure agreements.
- Focus on enhancing processes, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and optimisation.
- Offer accurate and timely counsel to the organisation on various legal matters.
What We're Looking For
- A qualified solicitor or legal executive in England and Wales.
- Demonstrable experience in commercial contracts.
- Ability to quickly understand and unblock legal issues as they arise.
- Keen eye for detail and a proactive approach.
- Excellent communication skills for navigating negotiations with external parties.
- Excellent judgment and analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate and liaise with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritise and focus on the delivery of key projects and tasks.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- In-house experience is beneficial but not essential.

You will work closely with our experienced commercial Legal Counsel and report to the Head of Legal, Governance and Compliance.
