Role Overview

This position leads end-to-end recruitment for technical teams in product, engineering, data, and artificial intelligence. As a player-coach, you’ll manage both direct hiring and a team of recruiters, shaping talent strategy that aligns with rapid growth. Based in Boston but with a national scope, this role demands deep engagement with local academic institutions, tech communities, and market dynamics to build a sustainable pipeline of top-tier technical talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a nationwide R&D hiring strategy with concentrated focus on the Boston talent ecosystem
  • Collaborate with R&D and business leaders to turn organizational goals into actionable hiring plans
  • Design and refine recruiting workflows that balance speed, quality, and fairness
  • Guide ethical integration of AI tools in sourcing and screening while upholding transparency and data integrity
  • Act as a strategic advisor on technical talent markets, compensation trends, and recruitment technology
  • Own full-cycle hiring for roles at all levels, including senior and niche positions
  • Build proactive sourcing models using market mapping, referrals, and community outreach
  • Lead offer design, negotiation, and closing in coordination with Finance and People teams
  • Maintain accurate records in the ATS to support compliance, reporting, and forecasting
  • Track and communicate key metrics—time-to-fill, quality of hire, conversion rates—to drive continuous improvement
  • Coach hiring managers on inclusive, structured evaluation methods
  • Supervise and develop talent acquisition team members, fostering skill growth and operational rigor
  • Work across functions to strengthen employer branding and candidate experience
  • Represent the company at local events, conferences, and universities in the Boston area
  • Stay informed on tech industry shifts and emerging recruitment tools
  • Create and maintain scalable recruiting frameworks, playbooks, and documentation
  • Compare current practices with top organizations and implement performance-enhancing changes

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of full-cycle technical recruiting, with emphasis on product, engineering, data, and AI roles
  • At least 2 years leading, mentoring, or managing recruiting professionals
  • Proven success placing senior or mission-critical technical talent in competitive markets
  • Experience developing market- or function-specific talent strategies
  • Ability to influence executive stakeholders using data, market insight, and sound judgment
  • Strong track record in passive sourcing, referral programs, and community-driven outreach
  • Direct experience managing offer strategy, negotiation, and acceptance closure
  • History of building or improving structured, equitable hiring processes
  • Comfort using analytics to guide priorities and improve outcomes
  • Experience representing employers externally through events or partnerships
  • Proficiency with Greenhouse, LinkedIn Recruiter, sourcing automation, analytics platforms, and AI-enabled recruiting tools
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, delivered with inclusivity and consultation
  • Resilient and resourceful, with a passion for building long-term talent infrastructure

Work Environment

This is a hybrid role with team locations in Boston, MA; Vancouver, BC; Chicago, IL; and Vancouver, WA. Remote candidates may be considered for certain positions. The role requires regular local engagement, including university and tech community events in the Boston area.

Compensation

The base salary for this position ranges from $145,000 to $165,000, structured as On Target Earnings (OTE), which includes base and variable pay. Compensation is reviewed bi-annually, factoring in performance and market conditions.
