About the Role

Aware Inc. is looking for a Lead Recreation Therapist to provide high-quality care, helping adults, children, and families become active members of their community. You will join a compassionate and fully engaged team dedicated to providing the best possible care.

What You'll Do

  • Work remotely in your assigned location/region.
  • Travel via personal or company vehicle to designated cities/regions to meet with clients and staff.
  • Assess and observe clients.
  • Plan and implement Therapeutic Recreation interventions to assist clients in increasing independence in lifestyle.
  • Research and apply evidence-based practices in Therapeutic Recreation.
  • Supervise and oversee TR programs and staffing.
  • Design TR protocols, session plans, and processes.
  • Apply knowledge of mental health diagnoses, developmental, and intellectual conditions.
  • Implement interventions sensitive to client age, cultural background, stage of development, limitations, skill, and experience level.
  • Document and evaluate services for efficiency and quality.
  • Perform risk assessment and activity analysis to ensure client safety.
  • Demonstrate and participate alongside clients to assist in attaining personal goals and functional outcomes.
  • Advocate for the TRS and possess public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Maintain assigned direct contact hours to caseload per week.
  • Create reports, spreadsheets, and audit processes.
  • Assist and facilitate TRS special events and activities annually.
  • Maintain TRS equipment and resources and place orders for supplies as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation meeting NCTRC standards.
  • Completion of an NCTRC-approved internship.
  • Current CTRS certification with a minimum of 2-3 years in Recreation Therapy practice.
