CVS Health is hiring a Lead Director, Government Affairs to direct and oversee Government Relations support for the company. This role will focus on advocacy and policy in specified states, including Oklahoma and Iowa, as part of CVS Health's mission of building a world of health around every consumer.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies to support company goals.
- Advise business leadership on legislative, regulatory, and political developments.
- Build and manage effective relationships with government officials, policymakers, regulatory agencies, trade associations, and other external stakeholders.
- Demonstrate familiarity with state legislative and regulatory processes and politics.
- Negotiate legislative, regulatory and public policy positions in adversarial situations and represent the company before specific State legislatures and high-level regulators.
- Navigate and resolve routine issues and risks within the political environment; identify and escalate those outside of scope as appropriate.
- Support the growth and retention of large State procurements for the assigned region/states as they pertain to Medicaid and the Public Sector.
- Address critical matters related to the legislative and regulatory environment, including rate and product issues related to commercial insurance, Medicaid, State budget and appropriations matters.
- Manage external consultants, contractors, and/or vendors supporting policy and government affairs objectives, overseeing daily work product and performance management.
What We're Looking For
- Government affairs professional with deep expertise in state government.
- 10+ years of experience in government, lobbying, healthcare public policy, government relations, and/or government affairs.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time during key periods of the year (i.e., legislative sessions).
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent years of related experience.
Nice to Have
- Multi-state experience in the healthcare industry.
- Experience with state Medicaid programs.
- Ability to handle several complex and difficult projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proven, effective oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a variety of Company management, retained counsel, legislators and other elected/appointed officials, regulators, staff of trade associations and other key stakeholders.
- Master’s Degree.

- Compensation range: $144,200.00 - $288,400.00 + equity award target.

Work Mode
This is a local-country position. The role is based in and will focus on the states of Oklahoma and Iowa.
