International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is hiring a Lead Building Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the upkeep and functionality of building infrastructure, including climate control, electrical networks, and water systems.
  • Track and analyze energy consumption patterns to promote efficient building performance.
  • Supervise external contractors and manage tenant space modifications.
  • Develop financial plans, manage equipment inventory, and oversee procurement processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and assess engineering personnel; establish performance targets and career development strategies.
  • Coordinate with tenants, external partners, and property managers to maintain consistent building operations and resolve occupancy concerns.
  • Work with suppliers to define project scopes and ensure adherence to contractual obligations and quality benchmarks.
  • Perform regular system evaluations, keep accurate maintenance records, and ensure compliance documentation is up to date.
  • Enforce workplace safety standards, including proper use of protective gear, lockout/tagout procedures, and adherence to OSHA, NEC, NFC, and NFPA regulations; lead safety training and hazard reporting.
  • Communicate professionally in writing and verbally with internal teams, management, vendors, tenants, and client representatives to provide updates and ensure alignment.
  • Carry out additional assigned tasks as required.
