9fin is seeking a Latin America Reporter (Andean Region) to join its team of financial journalists. The reporter will be expected to build their own source base and deliver market-moving insight and scoops on fast-moving, opaque, and complex financial markets, with full support and training provided.

What You'll Do

Build sources with bankers, investors, traders, lawyers, and other key players in the credit markets.
Write stories and investigative pieces covering markets.
Work with other members of the Latin America-based journalist team to confirm information and produce collaborative content.
Attend conferences, briefings, and other occasions to build and maintain source relationships.
Receive formal and informal training in interviewing, source-building, news writing, media law, and financial markets.

What We're Looking For

A proven interest in journalism, plus some experience writing for publication.
A proven interest in finance, economics, and markets, with an understanding of basic concepts and terminology.
The ability to work independently, with high accuracy and attention to detail.
The ability to write concise and fluent English, making technical topics accessible and engaging.

Nice to Have

Experience as a reporter working in the world of distressed/restructuring and/or leveraged finance.
A desire to build strong sourcing relationships across finance professionals and embed deeply as a crucial part of the market.
Ambitions to carve out a coverage area and build your own reputation as a financial journalist.
