Role Overview
Join a remote interpreting team supporting critical communications across emergency services, healthcare, government, and other key sectors. As a Language Interpreter, you will deliver accurate, real-time verbal translation between English and your native language during after-hours operations. This role is conducted entirely from home and requires availability for rotating night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate, accurate interpretation during live calls between non-English speakers and English-speaking operators in emergency and non-emergency settings
- Ensure clear, complete understanding between both parties while maintaining neutrality and confidentiality
- Interpret across diverse topics including medical, legal, financial, utility, travel, and general public service inquiries
- Work exclusively from a dedicated, quiet home workspace using approved mobile technology
- Adapt to a rotating night shift schedule, with hours beginning between 8 PM and midnight and rotating every three months
Qualifications
- Full fluency in both English and one of the following languages: French, Thai, Somali, Burmese, Urdu, Pashto, Khmer, Uzbek, or Bengali (reading, writing, speaking)
- Access to an Android 12+ or iOS 15+ smartphone
- Ability to work remotely from a secure, distraction-free environment
- Willingness to work overnight hours and on public holidays as part of a 24/7 operational schedule
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate of RM30, with a guaranteed minimum of RM4,800 monthly (based on 160 hours)
- Overtime compensation available
- 14 days of paid sick leave and 12 days of annual leave per year
- Eligibility for public holidays observed in Malaysia and the US
- Three weeks of daytime training (Monday to Friday) with a training allowance provided
- Contributions to EPF and SOCSO
