About the Role

MyFlorida’s Department of Management Services is hiring a Laboratory Technician II / Phlebotomist for the Clinical Unit at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC). This is a highly responsible professional position requiring independent judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and collaborative teamwork to support our clinical mission.

What You'll Do

  • Collect, label, process, store, and ship specimens following reference laboratory and infection control standards.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas to meet established infection control requirements.
  • Process all laboratory requests accurately and distribute results promptly to requesting physicians and clinicians.
  • Order, stock, and maintain supplies and inventory to ensure continuous laboratory support.
  • Collect admission lab work within seven days of admission per reference lab and institutional protocols.
  • Transport labs to Northeast Florida State Hospital following established procedures.
  • Keep your supervisor fully informed of activities, pertinent issues, and potential problems.
  • Perform routine EKGs as requested by medical services in a timely manner.
  • Run and process new lab results daily according to protocols.
  • Provide coverage in the clinic for the clinic assistant/front desk and assist the primary care physician as needed.
  • Treat all residents with respect and ensure they are afforded dignity while in the clinic area.
  • Observe established work hours, schedule leave to minimize disruption, and complete work on time.

What We're Looking For

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in laboratory or phlebotomist work.

You will serve within the Clinical Unit at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC), a tobacco-free facility. The agency’s mission is to work in partnership with local communities to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation: $18.38 per hour.
