This role is responsible for advancing patient access to specialized treatments by building trusted relationships with healthcare professionals across an assigned region. The Key Account Manager will ensure providers are well-informed on clinical data, payer policies, reimbursement processes, and product availability, all within regulatory and compliance guidelines.
Core Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed sales and access targets through strategic planning and data-driven territory management
- Analyze market and claims data to identify trends, opportunities, and barriers to treatment adoption
- Develop in-depth knowledge of local healthcare delivery systems, payer landscapes, and state-specific regulations
- Deliver accurate, compliant information using approved resources to support provider decision-making
- Address reimbursement challenges and triage issues to improve patient onboarding and continuity of care
- Collaborate with internal teams to align field activities with broader commercial and medical strategies
- Maintain fiscal responsibility in managing territory operations and travel expenses
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and bring at least seven years of experience in the biotech, specialty pharma, or medical device sector, with a minimum of three years in field sales or market access. Proven success in launching complex products and navigating specialty pharmacy, Buy & Bill, or direct distribution models is essential. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong ethical judgment, emotional intelligence, and a track record of solving access challenges related to coding, billing, and payer submissions.
Additional preferred qualifications include an advanced business degree or prior experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. A valid driver’s license is required.
Work Environment
This is a field-based position requiring significant regional and national travel, including overnight stays up to 50–70% of the time.
