About the Role
This position supports the underwriting process by reviewing borrower information, ensuring compliance with lending guidelines, and collaborating with internal teams to facilitate timely loan decisions.
Responsibilities
- Review loan applications and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Verify employment, income, and asset details using third-party tools and direct verification methods
- Assess credit reports and identify potential risk factors
- Collaborate with loan officers and processors to resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
- Prepare underwriting decision packages for senior review
- Maintain accurate records within loan management systems
- Monitor loan files for missing or outdated information
- Communicate with borrowers and partners to obtain additional documentation
- Support quality control audits and process improvement initiatives
- Stay current with changes in lending regulations and underwriting guidelines
- Escalate complex cases to senior underwriters when necessary
- Assist in onboarding new team members with procedural guidance
- Meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks consistently
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in a high-volume mortgage environment
- Working knowledge of automated valuation models
