At PIH, the International Accounting Manager serves as the primary accounting support and guide for our international site finance teams. You will ensure accurate, timely reporting and audit readiness while building global accounting capacity through training and process improvements.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary accounting liaison for international site finance teams, building strong relationships and providing guidance on accounting inquiries and processes.
- Provide site backup accounting support and assist with ad hoc posting entries.
- Review and analyze international sites’ income statements and balance sheets monthly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead monthly close call meetings with international site finance teams to identify and ensure completion of necessary corrections.
- Conduct detailed quarterly reviews to support audit readiness.
- Perform quarterly spot checks to assess and strengthen financial procedures and internal controls.
- Lead the collection and review of financial documentation from international sites in preparation for PIH’s consolidated audit.
- Act as the key accounting contact for PIH sites involved in donor audits and single audits.
- For sites not using the PIH accounting system, review and upload Excel files into the system, ensuring data accuracy.
- Support the Financial Operations Manager in evaluating global accounting team structures, policies, and processes.
- Identify common challenges and opportunities for improvement across PIH, along with site-specific barriers.
- Design and deliver targeted trainings for a single site or cross-site audiences to address issues and build capacity.
- Assist with ad hoc accounting requests and process improvements.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial statement review, including balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset management, and GAAP lease standards.
- Experience with international accounting, including familiarity with IRFS and dual ledger accounting.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or preparing for audits.
- Advanced computer skills, including mastery of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to travel to PIH international locations up to 10% to support training and capacity building.

Nice to Have
- A CPA or international equivalent.
- Previous experience working with or supporting international finance teams, especially in low-resource settings.
- Experience with Serenic or Microsoft Navision, or the demonstrated ability to learn new accounting systems quickly.

- Compensation range: $80,000-$85,000/year (starting); full range $70,000-$95,000/year.
