BMW Group is hiring an Intern - Startup Management and Digitalization in Innovation Management

About the Role

At the BMW Group, you will join an internship focused on driving innovation at the intersection of startup collaboration and digital process transformation. You will support pilot projects with startups and help develop scalable digital workflows for future innovation management.

What You'll Do

  • Support organizing pilot projects with startups to evaluate effectiveness and integration into the BMW production system, focusing on robotics, logistics, IoT, sustainability, and AI.
  • Contribute to quantitative economic analyses of investments in startup management and assess potential and risks for the production system.
  • Participate in coordinated active startup and technology scouting, aligned with production technology needs and international locations.
  • Support identifying and evaluating startups, transparently preparing relevant information, and initial assessment of weekly deal flows from BMW i Ventures, Pitchbook, and Crunchbase.
  • Help create transparency through data reconciliation in Salesforce and project/content tools like SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Support analyzing existing innovation processes and modeling digital end-to-end workflows using process design, BPMN, low-code automation, and knowledge management.
  • Receive regular feedback from your contact person and independently schedule meetings and topics for networking relevant stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Innovation Management, (Business) Informatics, or comparable.
  • Strong interest in startup ecosystems, innovation management, and digital transformation.
  • Analytical thinking skills and ability to assess business models and technologies.
  • Structured way of working, proactive mindset, and strong communication skills.
  • Very good German and English language skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with process modeling, workflow automation, or low-code platforms.
  • Knowledge of project management tools like Salesforce, Confluence, Jira, SharePoint, or Teams.
