About the Role
The intern will assist in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating security risks across product platforms, contributing to the overall robustness of system design and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating product architectures for potential security vulnerabilities
- Support the implementation of security controls within software development workflows
- Collaborate with engineers to integrate security best practices into product lifecycles
- Conduct testing to identify weaknesses in system configurations and access controls
- Document findings and recommended remediation steps for technical teams
- Participate in threat modeling exercises for new and existing features
- Review code for security flaws using automated and manual techniques
- Help maintain security standards and compliance documentation
- Engage in security assessments of third-party integrations
- Stay current with emerging threats and industry-specific attack patterns
- Contribute to incident response activities when needed
- Support the rollout of security tooling across development environments
- Assist in vulnerability scanning and penetration testing coordination
- Provide input on secure design patterns for new product features
- Work with cross-functional teams to align security with business goals
- Track and report on security metrics and improvement initiatives
- Learn and apply secure coding principles across multiple programming languages
- Help validate security patches and updates before deployment
- Participate in security awareness activities for development teams
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and follow-up actions
Nice to Have
- Prior internship or project work in cybersecurity
- Hands-on experience with penetration testing tools
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps concepts
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS or SOC 2
- Experience contributing to open-source security projects
- Certifications such as Security+, CEH, or similar
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies
- Understanding of static and dynamic application analysis tools
- Background in threat intelligence or security research
- Demonstrated ability to write technical reports or documentation
