About the Role

Texas A&M International University is hiring an Intern—Information Technology to join the Office of Information Technology (OIT). You will assist the Help Desk staff with daily operations, providing critical technical support to the university community.

What You'll Do

  • Assist users with account, computer, and telephone issues via email, phone, chat, remote desktop, and in person.
  • Troubleshoot PCs, Apple systems, and various software applications.
  • Maintain required documentation in the Ticketing Management System.
  • Verify the proper operation of all KIOSKs and Digital Signage weekly.
  • Decommission nonfunctional computers and equipment for surplus.
  • Work on special projects, including physically mounting network equipment and preparing computers with updated software images.
  • Maintain inventory of network hardware and communication connections.
  • Route calls to appropriate personnel and use sound, independent judgment when performing duties.

What We're Looking For

  • Current TAMIU student majoring in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours per semester for undergraduates, 3 for graduates).
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
  • Strong computer knowledge, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service, teamwork, and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the general public.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, and attend to detail while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to resolve problems by analyzing, recommending, and implementing changes.
  • Position requires on-campus, face-to-face interactions and maintaining a regular schedule of attendance.
  • Promptly complete all required trainings and submit time sheets biweekly.
