The Department of Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University of Louisiana is hiring for a 9-month appointment at the rank of Instructor or tenure-track Assistant Professor. You will teach courses in Industrial Engineering Technology, contribute directly to program growth, and engage in meaningful scholarly activities.
What You'll Do
- Teach all assigned classes per semester in a manner that promotes academic excellence.
- Submit course outlines and objectives and utilize a variety of proven teaching methods.
- Evaluate students and report progress, and participate in periodic reviews of course materials.
- Advise and counsel students during required office hours and at other established times.
- Maintain prescribed office hours of 10 per week and class schedules.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental and facility improvement programs, and student recruitment.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including grant writing, research, publications, and presentations.
- Participate in faculty meetings and serve on appropriate program committees.
- Participate in accreditation processes and assist in developing new academic programs, courses, and laboratories.
- Work with university leadership to expand the program to meet industry needs via the industrial advisory committee.
- Participate in official university functions such as commencement, faculty institute, registration, and recruitment events.
- Maintain appropriate expertise through continued professional development and mandatory training.
- Foster collegial relationships with peers and colleagues throughout the university.
- Comply with mandates of the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana regulating state employment.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of an MS (or equivalent) degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely relevant field.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Qualified and effective in teaching assigned subject material.
- Able to meet required standards defined by the University.
- Proficient in curriculum development, instruction, evaluation, and academic counseling.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, service, professional growth, and scholarship.
- Ability to teach a range of lectures and laboratory courses in Industrial Engineering Technology.
Nice to Have
- Doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely relevant field.
Team & Environment
You will work with the Department Head of Engineering Technology, the Director of the School of STEM, and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Provost/Vice President, reporting directly to the Department Head.

This is an onsite position.
