Bishop State Community College (ACCS) is hiring an Instructor, Music/Choir Director to lead the academic and performance aspects of our music program. You will coordinate instruction, direct the Bishop State Community Choir, and contribute to the growth of our students and arts community.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate, plan, and instruct music courses during the day, evening, or on weekends across assigned campuses.
- Direct the Bishop State Community Choir and handle all related administrative tasks.
- Demonstrate performing excellence in voice recitals, concerts, and other public performances.
- Teach all assigned classes following approved syllabi and learning management system guidelines.
- Maintain complete and accurate student scholastic records.
- Submit required student documentation, such as Failure to Report and Early Warning notifications.
- Participate in program review, curriculum development, and student learning outcomes initiatives.
- Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students and maintain posted office hours.
- Attend faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development sessions, and other required meetings.
- Assist in student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Collaborate with local commercial music entities and four-year institutions to develop pathways for student and program growth.
What We're Looking For
- A Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Graduate course work in Music or a related field from a federally recognized accrediting agency.
- Teaching experience in music-voice, choral directing, and related teaching methods.
- Experience coordinating college choirs and ensembles.
- Experience in vocal performance and coaching.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of a wide range of musical genres.
- Professional training in piano, musical composition, and commercial music recording.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Division Chair, Dean of Instruction, or the President or their designee.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position working at Bishop State Community College campuses.
