Lead Hydrogeologist position available in the Pacific Northwest, offering a key leadership role in environmental project execution. This individual will oversee complex hydrogeological assignments, guide technical direction, and ensure high-quality deliverables across multiple initiatives.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and manage scientific investigations addressing challenging subsurface and groundwater conditions
- Define project parameters, select analytical methods, and develop innovative technical approaches
- Supervise the implementation of field and analytical work, ensuring alignment with objectives
- Act as primary point of contact for clients through regular communication and progress updates
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including reports, data analyses, and compliance plans
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, regulatory requirements, and project timelines
- Delegate tasks to junior team members and provide guidance to support their development
- Coordinate field operations conducted by internal teams or external partners
- Lead interactions with regulatory agencies related to permitting and compliance
- Identify potential project risks early and implement effective mitigation strategies
- Support business development by contributing to proposals and client engagement strategies
- Participate in technical conferences and professional organizations to maintain industry leadership
- Collaborate across internal teams to align resources and optimize project outcomes
- Contribute to the improvement and implementation of technical standards and operational procedures
Qualifications
Candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely related field with coursework in hydrogeological science. A minimum of ten years of professional experience in environmental consulting or subsurface investigation is required. A valid driver's license with a satisfactory record is essential.
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is preferred. Professional certification such as P.G., R.G., or LHG is highly desirable. Experience with statistical evaluation of groundwater data and familiarity with relevant software tools is a strong advantage. Prior work on landfill or coal combustion residuals (CCR) projects is beneficial.
Work Environment
This position operates in a hybrid model, supporting offices in Boise, Portland, and Bellevue, WA. The role blends in-office collaboration with remote work flexibility, allowing for balanced engagement and productivity.
