WECTEC Staffing Services (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC) is hiring a HVAC Project Engineer

Lead end-to-end mechanical building services engineering for complex industrial and commercial facilities across Poland.. Manage the full project lifecycle from initial concept through detailed design, permitting, construction support, and commissioning.. Ensure all work complies with Polish and European Union regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HVAC engineering activities from feasibility studies through to IFC documentation, including construction support and commissioning for facilities such as turbine halls, control rooms, data centers, laboratories, cleanrooms, and office spaces.
  • Define the Basis of Design and establish design criteria covering indoor climate conditions, space pressurization, filtration levels, system redundancy (N+1), acoustic performance, and energy efficiency targets.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations and determine ventilation requirements for various facility types.
  • Oversee computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis, psychrometric calculations, duct and pipe sizing, hydraulic balancing, energy modeling, noise and vibration assessments, and development of control sequences.
  • Develop and review engineering deliverables including schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams, layout drawings, duct and piping routes, equipment schedules, control narratives, bills of quantities, technical specifications, and BMS/SCADA integration requirements.
  • Provide technical support for central plant systems including chillers, boilers, and heat pumps.
  • Support design and integration of air handling units, make-up air units, chilled and hot water systems, VRF and VAV systems, and heat recovery technologies.
  • Design adiabatic and evaporative cooling systems, free cooling loops, economizers, smoke control systems, and building pressurization strategies.
  • Engineer HVAC systems for cleanrooms and specialized ventilation applications such as battery rooms, fuel handling areas, and chemical storage facilities.
  • Ensure designs comply with current Polish and EU energy efficiency regulations and incorporate metering, submetering, demand-controlled ventilation, and heat recovery strategies.
  • Plan and manage the permitting process, including schedule development and coordination with authorities.
  • Lead the preparation of HVAC-related inputs for environmental assessments (OOŚ/EIA), building permits (Pozwolenie na budowę), and occupancy permits (Pozwolenie na użytkowanie).
  • Support compliance with Polish Building Law, Technical Conditions for buildings, Environmental Law, occupational health and safety (BHP), and fire safety codes.
  • Coordinate with the State Fire Service (PSP) on smoke control systems, fire and smoke dampers, fire compartmentation, and HVAC interfaces with fire protection systems.
  • Support approval of the Design Fire Safety Scenario and participate in acceptance inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to PN-EN and EU standards related to ventilation, indoor air quality, building energy performance, and HVAC equipment safety.
  • Ensure compliance with EcoDesign and ErP regulations, F-gas requirements including leak detection and logbook maintenance, and ATEX standards for hazardous areas when applicable.
  • Verify CE marking compliance for all HVAC equipment.
  • Collaborate with Sanepid on hygienic ventilation requirements, local utility providers on thermal energy supply, and environmental agencies on emissions and noise regulations as needed.
  • Lead coordination between architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, process, industrial systems, and project controls disciplines.
  • Engage with clients, regulatory bodies, and third-party consultants throughout project execution.
  • Organize and lead design reviews at 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC stages, as well as technical workshops.
  • Prepare technical specifications for HVAC systems and components.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations and manage vendor selection for major equipment including chillers, heat pumps, cooling towers, dry coolers, boilers, air handling units, fans, coils, valves, and control systems.
  • Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for HVAC equipment and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading HVAC engineering for industrial or commercial building projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Polish and EU building regulations, including Building Law, Technical Conditions, and environmental compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage full lifecycle engineering projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Experience with design calculations including heating/cooling loads, ventilation rates, duct and pipe sizing, and hydraulic balancing.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables such as schematics, P&IDs, layouts, equipment schedules, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with BMS/SCADA integration and control system requirements.
  • Experience in supporting permitting processes and regulatory submissions in Poland.
  • Solid understanding of fire safety regulations and coordination with PSP.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency standards and compliance with EU directives such as Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination and technical reviews.
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing with clients, authorities, and third parties.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or building services engineering.
  • Professional engineering licensure in Poland.
  • Experience with cleanroom HVAC
