WECTEC Staffing Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is seeking an HVAC Project Engineer to lead the end-to-end engineering of mechanical building services for complex industrial, energy, and commercial facilities in Poland. In this role, you will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design to permitting, vendor coordination, construction support, and commissioning, ensuring strict compliance with Polish law, national standards, and EU directives.
What You'll Do
- Lead HVAC engineering from feasibility through to IFC (Issued for Construction), including construction support and commissioning.
- Establish the Basis of Design (BoD) and design criteria for indoor climate, pressurization, filtration, redundancy, acoustics, and energy efficiency.
- Perform and oversee calculations and studies, including heating/cooling loads, ventilation rates, CFD, psychrometrics, and energy modeling.
- Develop and review deliverables such as schematics, layouts, equipment schedules, specifications, and Bill of Quantities.
- Support design for systems including central plants, chillers, boilers, AHUs, VRF/VAV, heat recovery, smoke control, and specialized ventilation.
- Plan and manage the permitting pathway and schedule, leading inputs for environmental (OOŚ/EIA), building permit, and use permit packages.
- Ensure compliance with Polish Building Law, Technical Conditions, Environmental Law, BHP, and fire safety requirements.
- Coordinate with PSP (Państwowa Straż Pożarna) on fire safety integration, smoke control systems, and acceptance inspections.
- Ensure compliance with PNEN/EU standards for ventilation, energy performance, EcoDesign/ErP, Fgas regulation, ATEX, and CE conformity.
- Interface with authorities including Sanepid and local utilities where required.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and process teams.
- Engage with clients and authorities, running design reviews and technical workshops.
- Prepare technical specifications, conduct technical bid evaluations (TBE), and manage vendors for major HVAC equipment.
- Oversee factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT), commissioning procedures, TAB, and performance verification.
- Define QA/QC requirements for HVAC deliverables and enforce document control.
- Identify technical and permitting risks, maintaining risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Support construction with RFIs, NCR resolution, site inspections, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure health & safety by design, maintainability, and operability; develop input for O&M manuals.
What We're Looking For
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 8–12+ years of HVAC design and delivery experience for the power sector or complex buildings/industrial facilities in Poland.
- Proven track record leading permitting and authority interfaces in Poland (PSP/fire, building authority, environmental/EIA).
- Working knowledge of Polish legal framework: Prawo budowlane, Warunki Techniczne, Prawo ochrony środowiska, and BHP.
- Working knowledge of relevant Standards & directives: PNEN ventilation/indoor air quality, energy performance, EcoDesign/ErP, Fgas, and Machinery/EMC/Low Voltage.
- Working knowledge of Fire safety integration and approval pathways with PSP.
- Proficiency with HVAC design tools (e.g., Revit/CAD, HAP/TRACE/IDeA/Hevacomp, CFD) and document coordination platforms (e.g., BIM 360/Navisworks).
- Fluent Polish with professional English (written & spoken).
- Professional credentials such as Polish building design authorizations (uprawnienia) for the sanitary discipline and SEP E/D for coordination with electrical teams.

- Experience in power/energy, data centers, pharma/cleanrooms, hospitals/labs, or manufacturing.
