About the Role

Pfizer Inc is hiring a Hematology Field Medical Director, non-MD to provide deep therapeutic area and product expertise across a broad range of medical customer segments. You will be responsible for planning and executing compliant medical strategy and engagement within an assigned territory covering North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Washington DC, serving as a key resource for information and insights.

What You'll Do

  • Plan and execute Medical strategy and engagement for appropriate assigned customers within the territory.
  • Maintain required knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas, disease states, and Pfizer medicines.
  • Serve as a conduit and resource for Medical Information and customer insights.
  • Contribute to Medical content strategy development aligned with Pfizer Medical Affairs priorities.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration among headquarters Medical colleagues, Medical Information, and other Field Medical colleagues.
  • Demonstrate expertise in communication across multiple channels and optimize patient centricity of Medical communications.
  • Deliver approved medical content about Pfizer medicines and relevant topics in hematology.
  • Identify and seek medical engagement from priority customer segments in the assigned Therapeutic Area.
  • Provide truthful, accurate, and scientifically supported information in response to direct unsolicited medical requests from HCPs.
  • Field relevant inbound queries from HCPs via the established triage process.
  • Partner with Oncology Research & Development and Global Product Development in identifying potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Appropriately provide Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) process.
  • Cultivate research and therapeutic area expertise, including familiarity with latest congress data and disease state literature.
  • Provide Asset leadership and understand the principles of study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Demonstrate strong territory leadership.
  • Reactively and proactively communicate with local Patient Advocacy Group(s), as appropriate.
  • Deliver insights on local patient organization structure, capabilities, and patient population needs.
  • Serve on Medical and/or TA and asset cross-functional committees, as appropriate.
  • Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs leadership with clinical/professional associations and/or societies.
  • Act as a mentor for onboarding partners and serve as an ad board and study lead mentor.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science.
  • Relevant experience required: PharmD/PhD with 5+ years of experience, MBA/MSc with 7+ years of experience, BA/BSc with 8+ years of experience.
  • Subject matter expert recognized across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a significant volume of projects remotely, prioritize successfully, and demonstrate excellent judgment in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Experience working within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team to foster strong professional relationships aligned with Pfizer Medical objectives.
  • Ability to effectively manage through and lead change in an evolving external health care environment.
  • Change agility and flexibility to adapt to new opportunities and organizational change.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to network enterprise-wide to identify solutions.
  • Ability to rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology with medical customers and record medical interactions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes; maintain flexibility to travel 60-80% of time.

Nice to Have

  • PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree (e.g., Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Physical Therapy) highly preferred.
  • Expertise or clinical experience in Hematology.
  • Familiarity with internal and external SOPs, rules, and regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions.
  • Previous Field Medical experience.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and demonstrate leadership and teamwork with peers, internal stakeholders, and external customers.
  • Self-starter mentality with accountability and a sense of urgency in delivering results that have medical impact.
  • Self-awareness and ability to choose behaviors and responses based on impact on performance and engagement.
  • Strong clinical and technical skills.
  • Breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage and handle conflict constructively.

  • Compensation range: $176,600.00 to $294,300.00.
