Responsibilities
- Direct all health and fitness programs and initiatives, including GrizzFit, Grizz Fuel, and Girls Summit.
- Develop and enhance relationships with Sports-Based Youth Development partners, such as local agencies, foundations, corporations, sports leagues, teams, and government entities in the Mid-South area.
- Support the recruitment, screening, and selection of GrizzFit coaches, and provide ongoing coaching and monitoring of their performance after hiring.
- Oversee student recruitment and registration, and track overall outcomes for all GrizzFit participants.
- Design strength and conditioning and exercise curriculum, primarily for youth.
- Handle administrative tasks including data entry, evaluation tracking, post-program recaps with metrics, and weekly debriefs.
- Conduct market research to create, implement, or expand existing health and fitness programs, initiatives, and team event activations.
- Assist with departmental fundraising ideas and execution to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
- Support all team appearances as required.
- Plan and execute special events, including setup, vendor coordination, equipment rentals, vendor relations, and communication.
- Act as the primary contact for the Youth Basketball Department on aligned efforts and partnerships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Management, Non-Profit Management, or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of issues and best practices in sports-based youth development programming, strength and conditioning techniques, wellness and mindfulness, and community development.
- Prior event planning experience including setup, vendor relations, equipment rentals, marketing, and communications.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating high initiative and producing high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to plan and execute special events, including event setup.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to multitask.
- Strong teamwork and cross-group collaboration skills.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Strong communication skills and business etiquette; ability to interact effectively with internal and external contacts.
- Comfortable with public speaking at engagements and during events.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge and understanding of NBA social responsibility programs.
- Prior experience in corporate social responsibility, community relations, philanthropy, cause-marketing, or nonprofit management.
- Prior experience working in a school or other field focused on student curriculum and advancement.
