The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, part of the Dutch national government, is seeking a Head of Innovation and Chief Data Officer. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of innovation, data, and digital technology, connecting societal challenges, administrative decision-making, and government-wide frameworks. You will act as the key contact for data and technology issues, bridging policy, execution, and the CIO office.
What You'll Do
- Lead the strategic development of innovation, data, and digital technology.
- Provide direction to approximately 20 professionals within the Information Policy Directorate, ensuring clear priorities and space for expertise.
- Serve as the recognizable point of contact for data and technology issues within and outside the ministry.
- Actively contribute to government-wide collaboration and participate in interdepartmental and European consultations.
- Advise the political and administrative leadership of the ministry on digitalization strategy.
- As a member of the management team, share responsibility for the ministry's overall digital and information challenges.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment focused on feasibility and continuity.
- Ensure social safety, diversity, inclusion, and a vital, well-functioning team.
What We're Looking For
- A clear vision on Information Provision and Information Policy, including data, AI, and ICT.
- Proven ability to provide convincing and successful advice to political and administrative leadership.
- Experience in providing inspiring leadership with personnel responsibility, coaching professionals.
- A demonstrated high degree of independence, proactivity, and flexibility.
- A demonstrably relevant and effective network within the national government.
- A Master's or doctoral degree.
Team & Environment
You will lead a department of approximately 20 professionals within the Information Policy Directorate (CDIB). As head of department and a member of the CDIB management team, you will report directly to the Executive Director/CIO.
