Lead and transform global payroll operations for a distributed workforce across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. In this remote leadership role, you'll oversee end-to-end payroll processing for over 1,600 employees, including those with variable pay components such as commissions and overtime. Ensure precision, compliance, and efficiency across all payroll cycles while navigating multi-jurisdictional regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct payroll execution for U.S. and Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to federal, state, and provincial requirements
- Collaborate with third-party providers in France, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands to manage international payroll delivery
- Act as the organization’s payroll authority, interpreting complex regulations and guiding cross-functional teams
- Lead a team of payroll professionals, fostering development and operational excellence
- Support financial close processes with accurate accruals, reconciliations, and flux reporting
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, HR Benefits, and HRIS on system integrations, employee lifecycle events, and reporting needs
- Identify automation opportunities to scale payroll operations and improve accuracy
Qualifications
- Minimum of 12 years in payroll, including leadership experience in a public or highly regulated environment
- Proven experience managing large populations with variable compensation models
- Deep understanding of equity award taxation, withholding, and reporting across U.S. and international jurisdictions
- Extensive hands-on experience with UKG systems
- Strong command of multi-state U.S. payroll laws and familiarity with Canadian and European requirements
- Experience leading month-end close activities and working within SOX-compliant environments
- Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships across finance and HR functions
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to deadlines and internal controls
