Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Head of Finance to lead all financial functions across a mission-driven, high-growth nonprofit with global reach. You will oversee accounting and FP&A, manage a complex financial portfolio with hundreds of millions in annual grantmaking, and serve as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead and grow a high-performing finance team, including a Senior Accountant and external partners, with plans for additional hires.
- Ensure financial integrity and compliance across US, UK, and Netherlands entities, maintaining rigorous standards in financial reporting and oversight.
- Oversee accounting functions including reconciliations, general ledger management, monthly close, financial statements, and consolidations across multiple currencies.
- Develop and implement budgeting and forecasting processes, financial models, and performance analyses to inform strategic decision-making.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, guiding resource allocation, long-term planning, and financial controls across departments.
- Formalize and document accounting policies and procedures; lead systems integration, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
- Track and manage donor-restricted funds, multi-currency grant flows, and endowments while ensuring donor reporting transparency.
- Maintain oversight of internal controls and risk management frameworks to protect organizational assets and reputation.
What We're Looking For
- At least 7 years of progressive finance experience, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- 3+ years in a finance leadership or people management role.
- CPA designation or advanced degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (e.g., MBA).
- Strong background in nonprofit or fund accounting, with familiarity in grant management and restricted funding compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with complex datasets, financial modeling, and multi-entity consolidations.
- Experience working across teams in high-growth, mission-driven organizations with an emphasis on financial controls and transparency.
- Alignment with organizational values, a collaborative problem-solving style, and a passion for global health and development.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Salesforce, business intelligence tools, and international financial reporting.
