Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across various entities, ensuring precision, completeness, and timeliness.
- Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, FX revaluation, and supporting schedules.
- Establish and maintain a standard close calendar and checklist, driving the close process with clear deadlines and accountability.
- Monitor and clear a monthly exceptions queue, addressing missing invoices, unidentified flows, and stale reconciliation items.
- Ensure all documentation is audit-ready, with organized evidence chains and clean support for every material balance and transaction.
- Manage bookkeeping across all entities, ensuring consistent policies, coding, and documentation standards.
- Maintain clean intercompany operations, including invoicing, intercompany reconciliations, and balances, with interest accruals where applicable.
- Support arm’s-length and related-party transactions with clear narratives and documentation, including agreements, approvals, invoices, and reconciliations.
- Lead end-to-end crypto transaction accounting across wallets, exchanges, networks, and tokens.
- Ensure crypto balances are reconciled and supported with strong audit trails, including wallet addresses, transaction hashes, and exchange statements.
- Maintain clear classification rules for crypto flows, such as revenue vs. other income, custody transfers vs. external payments, gas/fees, staking/yield, airdrops, and liquidity provision.
- Maintain schedules for realized vs. unrealized gains/losses and cost basis/lots for reporting and CPA support.
- Implement and maintain finance controls suitable for a lean team, including approvals, segregation of duties, and documentation standards.
- Maintain a compliance calendar in partnership with external advisors, ensuring recurring obligations are tracked and supported.
- Collaborate with external accountants, auditors, tax providers, and legal counsel to meet multi-jurisdiction requirements.
- Provide clear, management-ready reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and concise variance narratives.
- Generate burn reporting and spend insights, identifying top vendors/categories, drivers, and recommendations for savings and efficiency.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process, including annual budget and rolling forecast, with variance explanations.
- Maintain visibility across fiat accounts and crypto holdings, supporting payment operations with strong authorization and recordkeeping.
- Produce regular cash/treasury reporting, including balances, upcoming obligations, runway snapshot, and operational risk flags.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in accounting, controllership, or finance operations roles, with end-to-end ownership of close and reporting.
- Prior experience in web3/crypto companies, exchanges, or crypto-heavy operations.
- Strong technical accounting foundation with IFRS/GAAP-level knowledge relevant to the role.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and operating across multiple jurisdictions.
- Crypto-native accounting experience, including wallets, exchanges, reconciliation, audit trails, and crypto-aware controls.
- Strong documentation discipline and high integrity, ensuring audit-ready documentation by default.
- Ability to operate in a lean, high-ownership environment, executing and improving systems simultaneously.
- Excellent written communication skills, able to explain financial issues clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Xero (core accounting).
- Proficiency in Cryptio (crypto accounting/reconciliation).
Nice to Have
- Bookkeeping and compliance experience across one or more of: US, SVG (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), Panama, and UAE.
- Experience supporting audits, due diligence, or fundraising processes.
- Familiarity with crypto accounting tooling beyond Cryptio and/or blockchain analytics explorers.
- Basic SQL/data proficiency for financial analysis.

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
- 0–30 days: Learn current processes and data flows; stabilize close; document gaps; establish a clear close calendar and core reconciliation routines.
- 31–60 days: Strengthen reconciliations (crypto + fiat) and intercompany hygiene; implement tighter controls and evidence standards; deliver consistent monthly reporting.
- 61–90 days: Run a reliable close and reporting engine; keep books audit-ready; reduce operational risk; establish scalable accounting ops and cadence across crypto + fiat activity.
Additional Information: Employment Compliance and Confidentiality
- All employees will be onboarded through the official payroll and HR provider, managing employment documentation, tax withholdings, and compliance with legal requirements based on the employee’s country of residence.
- New hires must complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) verification, sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), execute an employment contract, and fulfill any additional legal requirements specific to their jurisdiction.
