Waymo is hiring a Hardware Development Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will build and maintain test systems for our autonomous driving hardware, provide technical leadership to manufacturing partners, and conduct failure analysis to ensure product quality.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain the hardware and software of test stations for PCBA and module level testing.
- Provide technical leadership to our manufacturing partners to bring up, troubleshoot, and maintain production testers.
- Conduct PCBA and photonic module failure analysis of production fallouts.
- Develop product troubleshooting and rework procedures.
- Document tester requirements and specifications, and manage tester vendors to develop testers.
What We're Looking For
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a relevant discipline.
- Strong experience in digital interfaces.
- Strong hands-on EE lab skills, including PCBA bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in Python software development.
- Good communication skills in English.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge in Linux networking and network infrastructure.
- Experience in managing contract manufacturers, particularly in Asia, and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
- Strong experience in Python software development.
- Experience in digital and analog circuit design and analysis.
