Advanced Energy is hiring a Hardware Design Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of engineers
  • Drive career development through coaching, training, and performance management
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence
  • Contribute to the conception and development of advanced electrosurgical generators and related technologies
  • Explore emerging technologies in power electronics, surgical energy delivery, and high-efficiency power conversion
  • Translate research insights into practical prototypes and future product concepts
  • Design and analysis of systems products and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule and quality goals
  • Diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address
  • Assumes responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers’ applications and recommend/implement corrective actions needed
  • Follow key engineering procedures, including Product Development Process and Engineering Change Order processes
  • Work with Advanced Development Engineers to review technology readiness to launch new products
  • Collaborate with other development teams on larger products
  • Collaborate with departments, such as New Product Implementation, purchasing, quality, program management, finance, safety, production, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards for medical devices
  • Provide expert guidance on power electronics design, control strategies, and system integration
  • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies for surgical energy applications
  • Drive critical thinking and problem-solving across complex engineering challenges

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or similar field. Ideally, a PhD or master’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or related field
  • Minimum 8+ years in highly technical design and development, preferably in medical or high-reliability systems
  • Show a progression of technical responsibilities and creation of IP in previous roles

Work Arrangement

On-site

  • Domestic and International travel of up to 10%
  • Interfaces with internal & external customers in all functional areas
