Advanced Energy is hiring a Hardware Design Engineer to spearhead the development of new-to-world technology for the medical industry. You will lead a team through the full Product Development Process, focusing on concepts for next-generation Electrosurgery generators, pulsed electric field technologies, and high-efficiency power supply architectures.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of engineers, driving career development and cultivating a culture of innovation.
- Contribute to the conception and development of advanced electrosurgical generators and related technologies.
- Explore emerging technologies in power electronics, surgical energy delivery, and high-efficiency power conversion.
- Translate research insights into practical prototypes and future product concepts.
- Design and analyze systems, products, and subsystems to meet specification, cost, schedule, and quality goals.
- Diagnose complex issues related to design, field performance, reliability, and test yields, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Assume responsibility for product success in customer applications.
- Follow key engineering procedures and collaborate with Advanced Development Engineers to review technology readiness.
- Collaborate with other development teams and cross-functional departments.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards for medical devices.
- Provide expert guidance on power electronics design, control strategies, and system integration.
- Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies for surgical energy applications.
- Drive critical thinking and problem-solving across complex engineering challenges.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or a similar field.
- 8+ years of experience in highly technical design and development, preferably in medical or high-reliability systems.
- A proven progression of technical responsibilities and creation of intellectual property.
- A track record of developing power electronics prototypes and products.
- Experience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations.
- Advanced knowledge of power conversion topologies, high-frequency switching, and control systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to solve complex problems independently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and strategic priorities.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership qualities.
- A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and technology exploration.
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong team player mindset.
- Ability to make independent decisions with initiative and tact, thriving in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Nice to Have
- An ideal candidate will have a PhD or master’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with electrosurgical technologies, pulsed electric fields, or ablation systems is highly desirable.
