The University of Rochester is looking for a Grants Management Specialist I to join the Department of Neurology Research Administration Team. You will provide professional financial support, focusing on the accounting and financial management of assigned Divisions' grants, clinical trials, and operating accounts.
What You'll Do
- Assist research teams and divisional administration in procurement and payment processing, including preparing requisitions, purchase orders, and P-card purchases.
- Manage subcontract components for grants, monitor invoices and budgets, and serve as the point of contact with sub awardees.
- Prepare and submit personnel forms and salary distribution changes, update employee allocation workbooks, and assist with the university effort certification process.
- Reconcile non-salary expenditures monthly by reviewing University ledgers and backup documentation.
- Perform monthly analysis and create financial reports on assigned accounts, including summaries for Principal Investigators and divisional leadership.
- Review agreements to identify invoiceable expenses and invoice study sponsors for fixed-price grants and clinical trials.
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments for fixed-price projects and cost-reimbursable studies.
- Maintain all department financial records in an electronic filing system for assigned accounts.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree (Accounting or related field preferred)
- 1 year of relevant experience
- Continuous Learning for Administrators of Sponsored Programs (CLASP) certification within 1 year
Nice to Have
- Experience with NIH or other grants administration, both pre- and post-award
- Experience in and knowledge of Integrated Online Research Administration (IORA) and federal grant application platforms
- Microsoft Excel spreadsheet development experience
- Experience with UR accounting and payroll procedures
