Trane Technologies is hiring a Grants & Contracts Manager to serve as a key member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) Grants & Contracts Office. You will support the Associate Director, manage day-to-day reporting for sponsored projects, and provide first-line assistance to staff. This role is responsible for the success of the Award Management workstreams and team development.
What You'll Do
- Perform management and oversight to ensure productivity and achieve service levels.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, sponsor requirements, and federal, state, and institutional policies.
- Provide guidance, training, and quality assurance to develop staff toward higher performance.
- Assign workload and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Oversee monitoring of sponsored award spending for allowability and compliance.
- Manage payroll and sponsored project effort processes.
- Oversee preparation of financial and accounting reports to sponsors.
- Ensure timely and compliant financial and non-financial closeout of sponsored projects.
- Support institutional audit engagement and response activities.
- Work with other G&C Managers to coordinate cross-functional processes.
- Identify and escalate operational challenges and offer potential solutions.
- Maintain a cohesive approach to support seamless customer service.
- Stay current on sponsor requirements, institutional policies, and regulations.
- Provide backfill and transactional support during workload spikes.
- Take ownership of or support special projects as assigned.
- Collaborate across G&C Management to understand project goals and organizational impacts.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 3+ years of supervisory or project management experience.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Master's Degree in Business Administration.
- Knowledge of accounting principles within federal and state guidelines, federal financial reporting, and research administration post-award experience.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification.

You will supervise, manage, and develop staff within Award Management, leading a team of 10-12 employees. You will be an integral part of the G&C Management Team, reporting directly to the Associate Director. - Compensation range: $123,000 - $185,000 USD.

This is a remote position. Candidates must be based in the United States, preferably in Houston, Texas (Houston TX Medical Center area).
