Global Standards Engineer
This role is responsible for defining and maintaining engineering standards used across global operations, ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency in product development and manufacturing processes. You will work closely with regional teams to align technical specifications, improve quality, and support sustainable engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and maintain global engineering standards, technical guidelines, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate standards into capital projects and new product development
- Analyze project outcomes and audit findings to refine standards and improve system reliability
- Deliver training on regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal engineering protocols
- Support compliance verification activities and assist regional teams with implementation
- Apply process engineering expertise to evaluate interactions between equipment, processes, and product design
- Ensure documentation is accurate, accessible, and under proper revision control
- Engage with industry groups and regulatory agencies to anticipate changes and adopt emerging technologies
- Incorporate environmental and sustainability objectives into engineering design and manufacturing workflows
- Advise on investment decisions by establishing standards that enhance cost-effectiveness and return on capital
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years in engineering standards, compliance, or equivalent technical leadership role
- Experience in food/CPG or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of the time
- Ability to work onsite at designated locations 1–2 days per week
- Must have current authorization to work in the country of application; no visa sponsorship available
Preferred Background
- Proven experience managing and executing engineering projects
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent designation
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with flexibility through the WorkFlex program, allowing remote work, compressed schedules, and flexible hours. Employees typically report to an office location once per week or less, with periodic in-person meetings as needed. Available locations include Alsip and Lombard, IL; Scarborough and Toronto, Ontario; and Santa Catarina and Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $120,000 – $145,000 per year, plus a discretionary bonus with a 12% target based on individual and company performance.
