The Global Category Manager will develop and execute the global category strategy for mobile Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), diesel and gas mobile generators, and associated technologies on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role ensures alignment with business, product, and sustainability objectives while driving procurement value and supplier performance.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute a global category strategy across mobile power generation and energy storage technologies, ensuring alignment with business, product and sustainability objectives.
- Lead direct and indirect procurement activities for the category, including supplier selection, approval and onboarding to support both existing products and new product introductions.
- Drive procurement savings and value creation through supplier rationalisation, pricing strategies, cost control initiatives and structured sourcing programmes.
- Undertake detailed spend, consumption and market analysis across assigned categories to identify cost-saving opportunities, supply risks and optimisation levers.
- Partner closely with Engineering / Product Management (at global and regional level) to support new product implementation, ensuring suppliers are technically capable, scalable and aligned to product roadmaps.
- Lead and deliver sustainable cost reduction initiatives with key global suppliers, balancing cost, quality, innovation and security of supply.
- Ensure full contractual, commercial and legal compliance, holding suppliers accountable to agreed terms and performance standards.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in category management or strategic procurement within the energy sector, power generation or renewable energy.
- A technical background or strong technical understanding, ideally gained through engineering, technical procurement, or working closely with product and engineering teams.
- A strong track record of delivering measurable, sustainable procurement savings and supplier-led value creation at a global or multi-region level.
- Experience leading supplier rationalisation, consolidation and strategic sourcing initiatives within complex supply chains.
- Confidence working with and influencing senior stakeholders, balancing technical, commercial and operational requirements.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience in spend analysis, market assessment and lifecycle cost modelling.
