Clark County is hiring a GIS Technician III responsible for the production and maintenance of the County's enterprise GIS data and custom map products. Reporting to a GIS Coordinator, you'll join inter-departmental project teams and provide technical support to internal staff and the public.
What You'll Do
- Produce and maintain GIS data within Clark County's enterprise GIS.
- Produce and maintain custom GIS-based maps, data products, reports, and web mapping applications using Esri GIS software.
- Produce and maintain Python scripts that automate data maintenance, product creation, map production, and spatial analysis.
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries for GIS products, services, or technical support.
- Assist County staff and the public with requests for GIS data and map products.
- Import GIS data from authoritative sources, digitize map-related information, and interpret detailed plans to update and verify the accuracy of County GIS data.
- Develop and maintain metadata, documentation, and user guides for GIS data and applications.
- Perform spatial analysis and data manipulation to generate informative visualizations, maps, web apps, and reports.
- Troubleshoot and resolve GIS-related problems and customer requests.
- Train County staff on using Esri GIS software and Clark County GIS solutions.
- Collaborate with GIS staff on project work as needed.
- Assist with the installation and testing of enterprise GIS-related software.
What We're Looking For
- Education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with major course work in GIS, geography, planning, computer science, landscape architecture, engineering, surveying, or related disciplines.
- Two years of experience in the application of Esri GIS software.
- One year of experience developing and maintaining Python scripts that automate GIS data editing, data analysis, and/or map production.
